When you slip back and it feels like all your progress is gone, and you're afraid how long the relapse will last, what do you do to get through? How do you handle the down days?
It was all going so well until this week... What's your strategy for hanging in there?

JR,

You are already doing the first step, you are acknowledging that it is a setback... that means it is temporary.

Do you know anything about growing plants? Though I am not en expert, but my expert friend tell me the thing you need to realize is that when I grow a plant, you are really growing a "root system." It is the root system on a plant that is the hardest to grow, and where the plant invests its long-term growth. The top of the plant (that part we see) can go up & down. Leaves whither and die one day (like if there is not enough rain), or branches even get broken off. But, if the root system is there, the plant recovers quickly to grow up to the capacity of the roots and more, very quickly.

Think of this as a metaphor for your body. The leaves we can see this week or next are great, but it is your "deep healing" down in your root system where the important stuff is going on. Your body is doing what it needs to, healing slowly, and building itself up careful deep down where it counts. The leaves on the top will spring back in a few days, or a week... just depends. But the root system never stopped healing.

Take care of your roots: rest & eat right. Take your supplements & drink your fluids like you should. Just keep giving "your roots" everything they need and they will keep marching ahead even if it "feels" like a setback.

Also important, squelch those negative thoughts... send your energy deep down to your roots. In some places, roots grow just as much (or more) in the winter as in the summer. Same with you!

Hope this helps,

Thanks for your concern, guest, but my doctor has diagnosed me- not looking for another diagnosis! No 2- love the root analogy, thanks!
