Hey Danny,

Funny you've posted about this as my bf has just moved in with me and along with him has come his black labrador. She's such good company as i'm still off work, she's so loving and keeps me up and down letting her in and out of the garden so I feel like i'm not sitting around all day. I even stroll around the garden with her sometimes just for a bit of Vitamin D. She has a bad hip so can't be taken for long walks so I feel we limp around together lol. She definitely lifts my spirits.

Awe that's what I love about the Maine Coon breed too, they're so massive and clumbsy yet soft and sweet. When my cat wants some loving you'll always be able to tell when he runs around the house and jumps on my lap settling for a nap, having him about is a good way to take my mind off things :-)

Awe that's sweet Ang, it sounds like she's just what you needed to help you keep active! Labradors are really loyal loving dogs, I'm more of a cat person but if I were to get a dog it would be a labrador or a cocker spaniel, my father's girlfriend brought her cocker spaniel round called Millie, she had such a sweet temperament and was mad seeing how much energy she had to run about the house

Don't know what I'd do without my pets! I've got a labrador (choccy one), a Burmese kitten ( my last Burmese cats lived to 18 and 17) who is a real 'monkey' :-). I have my horse too and looking forward to being able to ride her properly :-) At the mo am doing a gentle 15 mins and am alwys tempted to stay on longer!

A random one that might have been asked or chatted about before, but who has pets, and do they help you (no matter what animal) with your mood and PVFS?

I have a Maine Coon cat, he's about 6 years old and is the sweetest little guy you could want! It's awesome waking up in the morning with the little guy on my bed asleep, or on my pillow next to my head! I feed him and he comes and naps on my lap for a while, then goes off out and is back in the afternoon for more lovin'.

I just think animals, at least in my case can be a wonderful thing and good to have about, the unconditional love they can give you is just what I need feeling like this!

I am sooooo jealous!!! I LOVEEEEE cats and dogs, but live in a flat and am not allowed one. I find them amazingly comforting, much more than humans lol! They are very senstive too and often know when you need love. I had a gorgeous long haired tabby called Carly as a kid who was amazing and if I knelt by my bed she would put her paws around my shoulders and give me a hug! And a short haird tabby called Sammy who was crazy and kitten like all his life and used to bring home whole rabbits and watch them run around the garden, he also played FETCH like a dog, you would throw him a ball and he would bring it back! 2 years ago in a shared house a GORGEOUS ginger Tom (I named BABY - how masculine! But he was so cute! and the cuddliest cat) adopted me, he was a neighbours cat, but they mistreated him, didnt feed him and had no cat flap, he began coming to mine when I was first ill (coincidence?!) I didnt feed him at first, but once I heard the neighbours screaming at him and him losing lots of weight I bought a bowl and he became mine (oops) It turned out he wasnt even theres, but had turned up on their doorstep 2 yrs ago, I think he was a Nomad lol. Anyways he was AMAZING he was soooo glad to have love and a bed to sleep on he would lay flat out on his back, legs akimbo, never seen a cat sleep like that regularly! I will put a photo up! He would sometimes cuddle right up to me and let me sleep with my arm around him! When I was really ill and had to move out I had to give him up, as I needed to move in with friends who already had a cat for a while. My housemates refuused to look after him, and my landlady didnt really allow cats in the house anyway (but she liked me, so let me off lol) so I had to take him to the RSPCA... I still miss him now!! In my friends house there was Maisey, a black cat, she is the craziest cat I ever met, mood swings like a woman with PMT, loved you one minute, bit you the next, but she was still lovely and slept on my bed every night. Now I dont have one and I pine for one lol, I even dreamt I had a dog the other night and woke up with my arm outstretched stroking it lol.

i gotta admit ma dog has kept me on the straight n narrow. i excercise with him in the mornings n such.
a mix of rottweiler/staffordshire i have to be fairly ' dominant' to get any response from him.

this requires energy and patience but its kinda given me a kick to keep on top of him/train him.

gah he still jumps the gate and runs around the road chasing cars tho. with me chasing him. -.-''. my parents didnt train him when he was a pup so hes kinda a teen being rampant with hormones.

but yeh. deffo a pet can be just the kick u need to help u along with pvf.

So glad to see the amount of animal lovers on here :-)

Jenny; I remember horse riding once when I was a wee child and it was an awesome experience, I was a little nervous (well, very nervous) at first so I was given one they described as 'the most gentle and calm'. All I remember was while riding him/her I was stroking him too and she/he loved it! At the end of the day I always promised I'd do it again another time, but I never have done! Round here in my area there's lots of farm land and quiet lanes, so as you can imagine horse riding is very popular, I'm always careful when driving in the sticks because it's pretty certain you'll come across some horse riders, especially in the summer.

Helen; Awe that's all so sweet, cats are good at picking a favourite for love and affection, whenever I'm ill it's so nice having my little guy sleeping near me. I let him in on a night if he's been out all day, and give him some food. He will eat that and then come bounding in my room and jump on my bed, usually settles either next to me, on top of my chest or on my pillow! Can be a surprise waking up in the morning and opening your eyes, and the first thing you see is a cat looking back at you :-) Haha

I've always found animals better than people! Unlike people they give you dependable love and affection, and Spyder unlike my family doesn't tell me to 'Sleep better and be more active', or 'Cheer up everyone gets depressed'.. LOL

I do! I have a beeaaauuutiful tomcat named Bubbles (we didn't name him but he loves to chase bubbles if you blow them into the air so we kept it). Not sure what kind he is - think he might be a long haired tabby. He's very big, has a tail like a squirrel but bigger, and is VERY naughty!

I guess he likes to be the alpha male. He's been neutered but that hasn't stopped him! lol! We had to buy a magnetic cat collar and cat flap set for our next door neighbour, as it turned out he was letting himself in and beating the cr*p out of his cat, to the point they'd come home to find their poor cat huddled in a corner, surrounded by blood, fur, wee and poop!! BAD cat!! He's had half his inner eyelid ripped out in a fight (over £400 op to get it sewn back up) but it hasn't stopped him because he still chases foxes!

But he's a gorgeous cat and he loves his mummy and daddy...whenever we feed him or give him head scrubs anyway! Would post a pic of him to show you but I don't know how to.
