hi gabby - yes first time around i got sick whilst at a rugby match in february and then i recovered on new years day (amazingly!!!) the following year. so basically it took about 10 months. i dont really have any answers as to why i got better as i did the same things but eventually my symptoms lessened and i even had a nite out in december of that year cos i was just sick of missing out on life. in fact the nite before i started to get better the first time i even had a sleep where i had the night sweat and palpatations (strangely a symptom i dont have htis time)My thoughts have always been that the xmas break got me away from work, stress etc.. and allowed me to relax - hence the recovery but this is only a guess. I purchased every known miracle cure available and nothing made a single bit of difference. Our illness must be great for the medical companies as we just keep coming back for more. anyway feel free to contact me if you have anymore questions. unfortuantely im not out of the woods 100% this time and the clock is ticking on two and a half years. i just keep my fingers crossed il have my magic recovery again. keep the chin up and def. keep that diary - the most important tool we have for belief that we are improving.

sorry gabby - just to fully answer your question - yes i fully recovered in terms of energy. i even trained an ran a marathon but ive always been a fitness freak which is probably part of the problem for my relapse. the only symptom i had after my first instance was pins and needles in my arms which could be annoying at night but i could live with this and never really associated it with my illness (as i also started weight training). ive read many places where people say that you dont fully recover from this but in my experience i definately did recover - otherwsie i couldnt have ran a marathon or more importantly trained for a marathon over (running 400 miles in 3 months is hardly the sign of a sick man) My issue is with the labels for the illness and lack of support - yes i did have a virus and it took along time for me to recover from it but whether my PVF is the same as someone elses is a hard one to call. Im a computer programmer so ive needed logical thinking but brain fog hasnt been that much of an issue only in meeting scenarios. anyway apologies for the 2 part answer but just thought id answer your entire post.

I second that, great to hear a positive post, I love to hear that recoveries have been made to such a degree people get their old lives back. I cant wait!!!!

oh and I also spent a fortune on every possible 'cure' going, may as well have rolled the money up and smoked it!!! there are some companies making millions off this illness i bet. but its really hard when you are young and normally active to sit back and wait for an illness to pass. its not in our nature as humans to admit defeat, so you just keeping trying and hoping the next thing will be the one.... but no amount of omega oils and vitamin D has fixed me. although i must say my skin is looking great nowadays, so the money wasnt a total waste!!! shame i am too ill to go out and show my new vitamin infused complexion off!!!!

    keep the positive thoughts coming.......................<img src="images/smilies/wiggle.gif" border="0" alt="Wiggle" />

guys - just to keep everyone up to date. theres been more improvement and recovery for me all based around gradual exercise. i finally got it into my head that light exercise was required and that i dont have to make improvements day on day to get better quicker. basically as soon as i used to see improvemnt it wasnt long before the running shoes were on and next thing i knew i was back in bed feeling miserable. 3 years on since it started. the other things that i learnt was that before you need to create energy to have energy so before i meet friends or go out i go for a 20 minute walk. this has made a massive improvement as well and i think a good approach. unfortunately its take 3 years and certainly i couldnt just go for walks in year 1 as some of the time i felt too rotten. anyway hope this helps someone else. id say im around 95% there now - still holding out for thatfinal percentage but life is almost normal again. I believe the "You Will Get Better" mantra has been great for me and something i have always believed.
