Hi guys, not been on here for ages!
Im still plodding along, still with CFS, lots better than last year (pain has eased and weirder symptoms), but still dealing with fatigue, insomnia, nausea and occasional brain fog and anxiety.
I wanted to tell you about Welscreening. It is a system which tests all different areas of your bodies health, telling you what is imbalanced so that you can actively work at improving your health. I really believe most people with CFS have a number of things going on in the body and you need to work out all the pieces of the puzzle to get healthy.
So I was lucky enough to meet a woman in my area who had just bought a Welscreen machine and wanted to try it out on someone for free (usually £40-£100 depending on practitioner/deals). To be honest I really thought it may be a load of nonsense, but was willing to try because it was free... and the results were sooo interesting!
If I had written a list before I went, of things I think may be wrong with me then it would have been very similar to what the machine found, with a few extra very interesting other things!
I have no idea how it could work, but basically you hold a metal bar for one minute, and you can feel it pulsating and charging. Then it prints out a 27 page report about your health, under around 10 different headings (digestive health, immune health, detoxification, cardiovascular, stress index, vitamins and minerals, hormones etc). Each heading is divided into further categories and for each category you get a result and then the words "healthy", "mild imbalance" or "moderate imbalance".
Sooo... what was wrong with me?? Predominantly the 2 things I have been moaning about recently -hormones and digestion!!
It said I have a mild underactive thyroid (can cause cfs symptoms), low oestrogen and low FSH and LH (can cause insomnia, stress, bad PMT)... all the things I wrote to my GP about recently asking for tests on because I suspected low Oestrogen (even though it is not that common in pre-menopausal women)!
It said I have problems in my small intestine with digestion and absorption and possible infection... exactly what I went to my GP about this week because I have had such bad nausea the last couple of years and pain in my small intestine and it deifinitely feels like food gets stuck here!
In addition to these two things I have deficiencies in vitamins A, C, E, B2 (related to digestion, energy production, mood swings, cracked lips! all things I have problems with) and Zinc (thyroid, hormones and immunity!). It also says I have moderate electromagnetic sensitivity (which can cause CFS type symptoms).
Most other things were ok.
So it has given me much more confidence in where to go from here. My plan of action is:
1. Get tested at GP for hormones (this is already being arranged).
2. Get tested at GP for digestion (this is already being arranged).
3. Begin taking supplements of Vits A, C, B2, E, Zinc and Iodine (for thyroid).
4. Take Red clover (to increase oestrogen)
5. Look into how to improve EMF sensitivity.
With all of this I pray that I will see a big difference.
I would HIGHLY recommend having a welscreen test!! If you are thinking of spending some money on your health then I think this would be a wiser investment than some of the other testing and CFS treatments. If you cannot afford it maybe call a local therapist and see if they can do a discount, persuade them to advertise through Groupon, offer them services/belongings instead of money, or ask if you can pay over a number of weeks.
