How much can you exercise? I thought I was pretty much recovered- I can do all my regular daily routines and grocery shopping, walk for hours- so I tried to start getting a little fitter again. I'm fine with 15 minutes of light yoga, but today I tried 15m cardio as well (just skipping) and I was so wiped out I wanted to cry and had to go nap. I don't know if it's just from being so unfit or if it's a step too far...

Im so glad I found this post!! I have always been very active, but since having PVF I cant do any exercise without having no energy and needing to have a sleep. I might have a good day so ill go for a 15 minute walk...so the next day I stupidly think "oh Im better" so ill go for a longer walk, I end up dragging myself home and sleeping for two days. Im terrible for over doing it, so now im too scared to exercise!!!!!!I think the best approach is easing your way into it.

Im going to give yoga a go after reading this!!
    Take care, all the best <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border=0 />

exercise shuld be at a level below what you know you can cope with. Trying to get fit is not smart when you aren't healthy. Do the odd walk sure but really it needs to be stressed tought exercise won't help you get better and may reverse progress.

I've found 20 mins yoga daily is fine now (after 6 mths). I did a 15 minute jog last week and had to walk in the middle. This from a person who did kung fu, street dance AND running on a weekly basis. I now have the flu (again) but I am finding that carrot, apple and ginger juice is amazing. I also took strict instructions from a nutritionist. I'm now gaining weight so I'll see her again. Without exercise, even a healthy diet will lead to weight gain so she's going to help me address that. I didn't use to eat carbs much esp at night. She said i MUST for the vitamin B (brown rice etc) with every meal. As for exercise, I can power walk for 20 minutes (did that 2 weeks ago). I came back feeling elated and still managed to work full time. I recommend the power walk because if you're a runner, you get that feeling of sore muscles from a good run that we all long to have again. Power walking does that. I'm thinking about rollerblading too though I'm not sure if that is harder. Hang in there all of us! This forum is great to show we're not alone. Great ideas on here too. All my doctor offered (and I've consulted FIVE of them) was "rest". Hmph.
